Flammability Test UL FT4

IEEE 383, IEEE 1202, FT4 UL 2556, UL 2581, Other Equivalent Standards

The UL flame exposure is a vertical tray fire test for determining values of cable damage height and smoke release from electrical and optic fiber cables when the cables are subjected to a flaming ignition source. For a cable to be acceptable under the UL test procedure, each of the following is to be exhibited.
(a). The cable char height is to be less than 244 cm when measure from the bottom of the cable tray
(b). The total smoke released equal or less than 95 m2
(c). Peak smoke release rate equal or less than 0.25 m2/s

The purpose of this test is to determine the flame propagation and smoke characteristics of these cables for the limited smoke marking. This test does not investigate the toxicity of the products of combustion or decomposition.
